Head of Internal IT (Platform, Infrastructure Security, IAM & FinOps)

Nethermind builds and secures core Ethereum infrastructure — including the Nethermind execution client — and contributes to network upgrades, rollups, ZK systems and cross-chain architecture. The security team audits smart contracts, ZK circuits and off-chain components and offers formal verification for critical systems. The company is also developing hardware for verifiable biometric-based digital identity with cryptographic privacy guarantees.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the Internal IT Department: Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Security, IAM and FinOps.
• Co-define and drive company-wide infrastructure strategy and roadmap alongside the CIO.
• Manage hiring, staffing, career guidance and performance reviews across the department.
• Maintain clear communication with C-level executives and group leads to remove DevOps silos.
• Own internal/corporate technology estate and act as primary point of contact for internal IT matters.
• Adapt and govern AI tooling and agentic workflows for engineering and non-engineering use.
• Continuously identify and implement operational improvements and optimizations.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading and scaling IT/infrastructure/platform engineering teams (5+ years in management).
• Strong background in cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and DevOps/SRE practices.
• Hands-on understanding of infrastructure security, IAM, and FinOps disciplines.
• Experience translating compliance and audit requirements (e.g. SOC2, ISO 27001) into operational controls.
• Comfort owning or governing internal AI tooling with a security-first mindset.
• Excellent people management skills: hiring, mentoring and performance management.
• Practical experience with security incident response and threat modelling (including supply-chain/adversarial scenarios).

Nice to have

• Experience in the blockchain / Web3 / crypto ecosystem.
• Familiarity with multi-cloud and hybrid architectures (AWS, OVH) at scale.
• Experience running self-hosted / sovereign infrastructure over off-the-shelf SaaS.
• Background in productizing internal platforms (PaaS / IaaS) or spinning internal tools into products.
• Hands-on experience with FinOps tooling and large-scale cost optimization.
• Track record building or governing AI/ML and agent infrastructure.
