Responsibilities

• Design, provision, and maintain ultra-low latency AWS and hybrid network topologies, including VPCs and exchange gateways.
• Optimize Linux kernels and compute performance using techniques like isolcpus, placement groups, and ENA/ENI.
• Drive infrastructure automation and configuration management with Terraform and Ansible.
• Architect platform scaling to support Exchange Market Making (EMM), Project Market Making (PMM), and TradFi exchange convergences.
• Build telemetry and monitoring pipelines using Grafana Cloud and Alloy to ensure observability and reliability.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and act as an escalation lead for critical incidents.

Requirements

• 5+ years in Infrastructure Engineering, Systems Engineering, or SRE, focused on low-latency electronic trading environments.
• Advanced Linux internals expertise: kernel tuning, memory management, and network I/O optimization.
• Experience with AWS low-latency constructs (Placement Groups, ENA/ENI) and high-performance EC2 optimization.
• Familiarity with trading protocols and low-latency connectivity (e.g., FIX, Aeron) and HFT or exchange API workflows.
• Strong proficiency in Terraform and Ansible for cloud infrastructure and OS configuration.
• Deep understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, UDP, low-latency routing).
• Hands-on experience with containers and CI/CD: Docker, Docker Compose, Jenkins, modern deployment pipelines.

Nice to have

• Scripting in Python/Bash; development experience in Rust or Java.
• Experience with hardware acceleration (FPGAs, SmartNICs) or custom NIC driver tuning.
• Knowledge of PTP / IEEE 1588 or clock synchronization for high-precision timestamps.

Benefits

• Base pay range $179,000 - $218,000 (NYC reference).
